The Environmental and Natural Resources Department (ENRD) consists of the following: Director’s Office, Environmental, Natural Resources, and Rangeland Programs.
The Environmental and Natural Resources Director provides coordination of all departmental programs to protect, monitor, and enhance the natural resources and environmental quality of the Pueblo of Laguna.
The mission of the Pueblo of Laguna Environmental program is to monitor and protect the environmental quality of Pueblo air, land and water for the benefit of Pueblo member health and the future generations; while building capacity and providing comprehensive environmental services to the Pueblo.
Within the Environmental Program, is The Native American Lands Environmental Mitigation Program (NALEMP)
“To reclaim and enhance the impacted FUDS (Formerly Used Defense Sites) lands for the utilization by all tribal members, visitors, and future generations.”
The uses include, but are not limited to; hunting, camping, livestock grazing, wildlife habitat, and cultural uses.
The Natural Resources Program is responsible for the protection and sustainable management of all natural resources within the exterior boundaries of the Pueblo of Laguna. Our primary goal is management of resources from a culturally sensitive, biological and economically sustainable perspective for the well-being of the community.
Within the Natural Resources Program, is the management of the Silver Dollar and Mount Taylor Park Properties.
The Rangeland Management Program is responsible for the protection and sustainable management of rangelands within the exterior boundaries of the Pueblo of Laguna that are not within village boundaries. Our primary goal is optimal utilization and management of resources from a physical, biological, and economically sustainable perspective.
