The Highway Safety Division (HSD) is funded by a grant from the BIA Indian Highway Safety Program and the Pueblo of Laguna (POL).  The goal is to increase the POL’s traffic enforcement efforts aimed at reducing death and injuries on the reservation as a result of motor vehicle crashes.  The HSD supports two (2) high visibility National mobilizations which are the “Click It or Ticket” and the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”  The HSD also participates in the “Don’t Shatter the Dream” mobilization through saturation patrols, sobriety checkpoints and high visibility patrols.  Highway Safety Officers also provide educational presentations to elementary, high school and/or community members on Highway Safety and the effects of impaired driving.
